Senior Commercial Manager, Rail – Midlands

Commercial Manager role for an infrastructure consultancy in the Midlands with direct accountability for Birmingham based team. Expertise covers infrastructure, highways, rail and civil engineering.

This is a superb opportunity to join a leading consultancy at the top of the ladder and help steer their rail and infrastructure business across the region.

We are looking for a proven individual with a significant career history in cost and commercial management, ideally from a consultancy perspective but we would also consider those from a rail main contracting background, given that a proportion of the work is running design contracts and post contract work.

We need someone to take on commercial management responsibilities, team management, to have input on bidding strategy, negotiation, project and financial controls, commercial intelligence, contract review and administration. Specialist knowledge in the administration of contracts under a variety of conditions of contract with particular experience of the NEC Conditions of contract is also essential.

This is a great chance for commercial managers who are perhaps stagnant or lacking challenge in their current role to make a move to a top consultancy who are heavily involved with cost managing vast swathes of the UK’s railway infrastructure and are managing some of the biggest and most complex engineering programmes in Europe.

You will also develop the quantity surveyors in the business together with managing the future acquisition of talent, taking part in building a strong commercial delivery team nationally. 

You’ll be given the freedom to manage your team as well as input into the future of the strategy and growth of the business. With a strong pipeline of work and new projects coming on line, the business is only going to get larger, with this person been given more and more responsibility and the opportunity to progress further within the business.
